Riverton Half Marathon. I think this is the 4th year in a row that I've run this event (not counting last year which was snowed out). This is a good measure of my fitness level after the winter. This is the most "honest" course I've run around here. It's a mostly flat loop course, with just a few sections of rollers. There's always some wind from either the north or the south. Fortunately the winds weren't too bad at all. The last two times it was blowing pretty strong from the south. This year just a light breeze out of the north that got just a little stronger as the morning went on. The course was just a little different from years past. They took out one pretty big uphill followed by a ridiculous downhill. So where is my fitness? In 2011 I ran the course in 1:48:?? In 2012 I ran the course in 1:47:?? This year 1:41:06. All those miles with the Cedar River Runners are paying off. I even proudly wore my CRR shirt. AP 7:45 7:29 / 7:25 / 7:14 / 7:26 / 7:24 / 7:38 / 7:37 / 7:57 / 8:16 / 8:02 / 8:33 / 8:06 / 7:39 / 6:49 pace for last .1 Not too bad for a guy running mostly at sea level for several months. |
