It's been impossible to keep on any kind of consistent training schedule with all the traveling the last 4 weeks required by my work. Been to some cool places and done some cool things but I can't do 40-50 miles a week on a hotel treadmill. Cedar River Group Run. I got to find out today how much the lay off has cost me. Outbound 7 miles AP 8:05 8:40 / 7:52 / 7:50 / 7:54 / 8:03 / 8:10 / 8:09. Made a choice to stick with the lead group for as long as I could knowing most of them are running pretty fast and would run the return leg even faster. Stayed with them through 4 miles. Inbound 7 miles AP 8:34 8:13 / 8:22 / 8:28 / 8:23 / 8:35 / 9:10 / 8:53. This was where the lay off really showed. A month ago I was able to negative split the inbound leg. The last two slightly uphill miles just zapped me. 5 weeks until TOU. I wonder if I can salvage enough training to make it worth my while. |
